Bio fuels are definitely not a much better option than renewable energy as it is again just another source of carbon dioxide emission.
I am against biofuel. I believe it's better to used the food to feed people than to convert it to fuel cars.
Most people seem to be ignorant of the fact that bio fuels also release Carbon dioxide. Solar, wind and nuclear energy hold key to the future as they do not release Carbon dioxide!
While I'm not an expert on the subject, burning any fuel produces CO2. I wouldn't expect biofuel usage to make any positive impact on the cumulative CO2 emissions. This combined with the huge land area required makes me think that we should keep looking if we want to ween our dependency on fossil fuels.
To replace gasoline in the USA alone, we would have to grow corn on every square inch of the earth. If our world is to survive, we have two choices:
1) Nuclear power
2) Wind power
Storage becomes the expensive issue. However, with Ammonia the separation of Hydrogen from Oxygen becomes less energy expensive. This allows us to convert the electricity from either of the above sources into a liquid, renewable, transportable resource. Don't fucking argue. I'm a Ph.D chemist and I'm right.
Biofuels could be wise...but not by the current way it's being generated. Government subsidies are pushing bio fuels too fast and are inflating the price of food. We were too quick to create fuel from renewable crops, it's created a problem that is very hard to change. There are different crops that can be harvested and energy extracted using enzymatic techniques, but we must wait until this is perfected before bio fuels are explored any further.
Simply put, there's not enough room! The developed world is so dependent on the car that it'd take an obscenely large land mass to grow it all. Also, the fuel is cleaner, not clean. Compare it to Hydrogen fuel cells and it's filthy.
In the future we'll be driving Hydrogen cars and power our cities with Hydrogen. At the moment it's truly our only viable and feasible option.
Nuclear power or a change in societal mindset are the only solutions. This it a simple fact. Hydro carbon energy sinks will run out, although not likely as soon as we are being let to believe. 'Bio' fuels (really something of a misnomer) are an ecologic disaster as well as ultimately insufficient in regards to energy demand. And i am not just talking Gasoline/ethanol, I mean home/business heating lighting etc.
I advocate nuclear power, its safer then you realize.

Biofuels may sound strange why this Bio had been to this fuel also but even after introducing unleaded petrol many problems like Globalwarming.,health issues increasing and dam waste products are increasing like anything,,As a 3R practise Reduce.,Reuse.,Recycle and overcome bags of problem let it sound friedly Our Biofuel,,..///
yes i am voting for too.
Wise only if it is made of algae from marine agriculture - onland green ponds - that also contribute to the Oxigen emission and reduce of Carbon green house gasses.
I completely support it, for the sake of our planet! Go biofuel.
The oil companies are taking advantage of hard working people, like you and myself.
We have a oppurtunity to break free from the hands that control us and be apart of something that will benifit the rest of humanity.
I urge all of you to research biofuels more before passing judgment on something that can not only be the energy source of the future, but a by product food source as well.
Jatropha trees grow on marginal land in countries such as India, Mozambique, Malawi and Tanzania. Each seed produces up to 40 per cent of its mass in oil, and jatropha can be grown in otherwise non-arable areas, leaving prime land available for food crops, according to the airline
Bio fuels are a renewable resource. Using fossil fuels is stupid because: 1. We are dependent upon terrorist countries like Iran 2. It's gonna run out one day, why not be ahead of the game and be prepared NOW 3. Fossil fuels when used produce harmful byproducts that hurt the environment. Choose wisely people... Bio fuels all the way.
Hopefully bio-fuels will help us in a sustainable world.
